"I love the inspiration and energy I get from being at the centre of the city. Here I can pursue my own passions and be a part of... and contribute to... the vibrancy of the downtown area too!"

Greater Downtown is Experiencing a Renaissance

Over the past decade projects such as the YMCA Centre For Life, Market Square and the redevelopment of the Rainbow Centre have made important contributions to downtown revitalization.

Today there are new signs of renewal. Most downtown business and property owners are satisfied with their location and have a more positive view of the business climate than they did five years ago. Businesses that once were established in the downtown are returning, others are relocating from other parts of the city, and many new entrepreneurs are considering downtown as their preferred location.

The Greater Downtown area has been targeted as a visitor destination and a centre for the creative, curious and adventuresome – two economic engines that will drive the Greater Sudbury economy in the 21st century. Science North and Dynamic Earth, two of Canada’s largest and most innovative science centres, are within 10 minutes and the recommended and signed route between the two attractions passes through the downtown. Sudbury Tourism also hosts a Visitor Information Centre at the historic CPR station.

Downtown living is also capturing the imagination of people of all ages, sparking interest for new downtown residential opportunities. All told, there is no better time than now to be part of downtown’s bright future.
